Beyonce is queen of Grammy Awards

Pop star Beyonce was the big winner at the prestigious Grammy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles, winning six prizes.

Starting the night with 10 nominations, her awards included song of the year and best R&B song, both for Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It).

Twenty-year-old country star Taylor Swift picked up four prizes, including the coveted album of the year title.

The Black Eyed Peas, Jay-Z and Kings of Leon all picked up three trophies each, while Lady GaGa and Eminem won two.

Beyonce has set a new record for the most awards won in a single year by a solo female, and takes her career tally to 16.

Her other awards this year included best contemporary R&B album, best R&B female vocal for Single Ladies and best traditional R&B performance for At Last, which she performed at President Obama's inauguration.

She also won best pop vocal performance for Halo. Accepting that trophy, she said: "This has been such an amazing night for me and I'd like to thank the Grammys.

"I'd like to thank my family including my husband, I love you," she added, referring to rapper Jay-Z.

Baby born without eyes due to rare disorder

Amr Diab on New TV Series

A baby in Florida was born with a rare condition that has left her without eyes

Brielle Garrison suffers from anophthalmia, which is a disorder that results in the absence of ocular tissue and usually develops during pregnancy.

Lori Garrison, Brielle's grandmother, said this has been incredibly hard on her family.

"For a baby to be born with no eyes is just so cruel, and because my daughter's 15, it was just mind boggling that such a thing could happen," Garrison said.

Brielle has a long road ahead of her and will have to have several surgeries so that her face does not become deformed, according to the report.

"It's hard," said Taylor Garrison, Brielle's mother. "I mean, this week we have an appointment every day, and there are always appointments (and) different doctors."

There is no treatment for severe anophthalmia, however children can be fitted for with an artificial eye for cosmetic purposes and to promote socket growth, the NIH said.

In a recent study in England, one in 10,000 newborns was found to have anopthalmia.

Amr Diab has signed on a contract for two movies and a TV series with Good News production company and Sherif Arafa - the famous director. The shooting will begin after Ramadan 2010. Stay tuned for more details soon.

No deal on CO2 cuts as climate talks enter final day

Negotiators from 193 countries worked through the night and did reach consensus on financing and temperature. A draft text called for $100 billion a year by 2020 to help poor nations cope with climate change and sought to limit warming to two degrees Celsius compared with pre-industrial levels.

But large gaps remained.

Andreas Carlgren, the environment minister of EU president Sweden, said only the world's two biggest greenhouse gas emitters China and the United States could unlock a deal.

"There are deep differences in opinion and views on how we should solve this. We'll try our best, until the last minutes of this conference," said Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt......read more
