Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett and pop star Christina
Aguilera have both confirmed that they are pregnant.
Blanchett told reporters at the Sydney premiere of her film
Elizabeth: The Golden Age that her baby was due in April, which
was "very exciting".
Aguilera used an interview with Glamour magazine to say she
would "enter into mommyhood" at the start of next year.
She said she wanted to be a working mother, so she could
"balance" the needs of her child with her career.
"I want to get it right," the 26-year-old added.
Her husband, music executive Jordan Bratman, was ecstatic about
the prospect of becoming a father, she said.
"He's thrilled! He's just great", Aguilera explained.
"He's so supportive and amazing through everything. He came with
me on the last leg of the tour and he was my support system... I
gush. I'm a lucky girl."
It will be the first child for her, whereas Blanchett, 38,
already has sons aged five and three with her husband Andrew
Upton.
Blanchett's pregnancy is not expected to stop the couple
becoming joint artistic directors of the Sydney Theatre Company
in January.
Their appointment has generated controversy within the
Australian city's theatre community.
One actor - Colin Moody - has left the troupe, reportedly saying
"an Oscar for acting is not a suitable recommendation to run the
biggest theatre company in the country".
